Polio Information System (POLIS) for the World Health Organization
Data and information relevant to Polio eradication analyses exist in various formats from different sources. They include Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP) cases, laboratory indicators, immunization campaigns, quality of immunization campaigns, human resource allocation and routine immunization coverage rates. Overtime, few processes has been established to collect on a regular basis some of these datasets from the countries through regional offices but most of the data are still received and stored in heterogeneous Access or Excel files at WHO Headquarters. Despite a few information systems have been built over time by the WHO Polio department to automate the processing of some of those datasets, there is no single repository of harmonized data allowing getting an overall surveillance picture and perform cross cutting analysis.
The POLIS system should
The solution being implemented is based on a multi tiers solution with several collection systems processing incoming files from Regional or Country offices and pushing harmonized, consolidated, cleaned data into a datamart (POLMART).

Novel-T performed the business analysis and requirements gathering from all stakeholders of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) Novel-T wrote the System Requirement Specifications for the complete system. Novel-T lead the procurement and bidding process Novel-T is implementing the POLHRT and POLMART components estimated to be more than 300 man/days of developments.
